Siskiyou County is located in northern California near the Oregon border. Shadowed by the majestic Mount Shasta its center, the area offers an abundance of views, activities and sites to see. One of these sites, the historic Siskiyou Trail, was originally formed by Native American footpaths and was later extended by the Hudson Bay’s Company Trappers. When the gold miners, affectionately called “forty-niners” struck gold in 1851 near Yreka, a great rush of tourism bombarded Siskiyou County. Suddenly all of her treasures were open to be explored, the Southern Pacific Railroad deemed its railroad line at the time the “road of one thousand wonders”.
