• Carménere – One of the Original Bordeaux varietals.  Many of the vines were devastated by Phylloxera in the 1800’s.  Meanwhile, some planting stock had been transported to Chile and were grown as Merlot for decades.  In the 1990’s, someone familiar with Carménere brought back samples for DNA analysis and those vines were found to be Carménere.  Almost all of the Carménere wines today are made in Chile.  Sierra Peaks Winery boasts some of the first plantings of Carménere in California.
Awards:  The 2017 Estate Bottled Carménere won silver (88 points) at the California State Fair Wine Competition.

A SECURE AGRICULTURAL SANCTUARY
While purpose-built for wine production, the winery’s underground wine cave has attracted attention for its unmatched structural integrity and multi-purpose potential. Engineered to withstand heavy loads and permitted for construction of an additional 2-stories, the cave is ideal for secure storage, high-value collections, or future adaptive reuse.

Its remote location, water storage, high production solar array, and resilient construction make this site appealing to: remote workers, hospitality and tourism ventures, private sanctuary for wellness and yoga retreats, or those looking for a unique lifestyle living enterprise.

This is an opportunity for winegrowers, visionary entrepreneurs, farmers, artists, crafters, event facilitators, etc. A truly one-of-a-kind investment in sustainability and craftsmanship, amongst the beauty of the Southern Sierras.

Currently operating as a short-term rental, the area is a growing AirBnB haven with no current permitting restrictions. All bookings will transfer with the sale, or can be cancelled depending on buyer’s needs. Sierra Peaks has huge potential for agro-tourism and a wedding/event venue. Due to the newly adapted AVA, more local landowners are planting vines, and currently new wineries are in the process of being built. Local growers and winemakers are moving forward with talks of a wine trail for the area.

CLIMATE

Yokuts Valley is an unincorporated community located in Fresno County, California, at the foothills of the Sierra Nevada on State Route 180 just below Kings Canyon National Park. As of the 2010 census, the CDP had a total population of 3,162, up from 2,691 at the 2000 census. Yokuts Valley is located 30 miles east of Fresno.
