Napa Valley

When picturing Napa Valley, one generally visualizes the rolling hills covered with rows of endless vineyards and beautiful wineries.  The memory of a good cabernet wine might envelope your mouth as you picture this beautiful vacation spot.  Like many other places though, Napa is changing as a new generation of wine lovers emerge, looking for hip bookstores with eccentric tales for sale, yummy cafés and quirky leisure activities.  As the area responds to this new generation, the prime real estate is no longer the singular reason for a visit to Napa and the downtown has blossomed with new night-life filled with swanky clubs and trendy bars.
Due to the relaxed beauty of the Napa Valley region, many individuals choose the area as a natural backdrop for their wedding ceremonies.  You may find yourself the unforeseen witness to a couple pledging their eternal love for each other while you are touring the area for a relaxing vacation weekend, whether on the wine train, on your own winery tour or while you view the new real estate for sale in the area.

Recreation & Tourist Activities

The obvious recreation for Napa Valley is of course, the wine tasting.  Does anyone go to Napa to do anything else?  If after a few hours on a wine tour you find yourself wishing for something different than the usual Napa Valley wine tasting vacation, you should consider checking out Calistoga which was founded in 1859 when a San Francisco entrepreneur heard about its natural hot springs.  The town’s quaint, Old West quality has been maintained into the 21st century by the old hotels and false-fronted shops along the main drag of Lincoln Avenue.

You can hike or mountain bike up Oat Hill Mine Trail from where the Silverado Trail meets Highway 29.  After hiking 30 minutes up, the summit offers a view of all of Calistoga.

After all of this, finish your day in style by taking a mud bath at the Mount View Hotel and Spa on Lincoln Avenue.
